As most of you know, I am a very spiritual person. It wasn’t something that happened overnight. Years of learning, reading & having my own experiences have lead me to this place. I go about my life believing in something beyond what we can see in the physical/material world. I believe that there is energy out there that you may not be able to see, but that you can access & receive guidance from. I believe that being open to this will help you align with your purpose & manifest your highest desires. We each have a unique ability to awaken & open ourselves to this energy. Spirituality is not black or white. There’s no right or wrong. Everyone’s experiences are different & that’s what makes spirituality so special. Your spiritual journey is special because it is your OWN.
Over the years I have ready many books that have evolved my journey. I believe they each came to me at the time I needed them most. The way I was introduced to them & the timing in which I read them was meant to be. These books opened my heart & eyes to certain experiences I may have otherwise missed. I also loved that as I read them, I noticed so many similar themes. Perhaps not always worded in the same way, but the authors were trying to say the same thing: that there is energy out there you can connect to & that your thoughts affect the outcome of your life.
TIP: Get your favourite coloured highlighter & highlight the parts that resonate most. I always do this and re-read my favourite parts when I am anxious or need to shift to a positive place. This always helps me as it reminds me of things I may already have read or know.. but sometimes in the heat of anxiety—you need a reminder. You need to remember, to remember when it comes to spirituality. For me, at least.
1 .The Secret By Rhonda Byrne
This was the first “spiritual” book I ever read. I was 18 when the book came out at a point in my life where I was searching for more answers. I had never learnt or read anything about manifestation or the universe & had no understanding of this concept. At the time there was a lot of press around the book, I had seen it everywhere & it was even turned into a movie. It was one of the first books in this realm to get major attention from mainstream media, but there were many others written before it. At the time it was the perfect first “spiritual” book to read because it opened me up & lead me to a whole new way of thinking, being & doing. I will admit though years later after learning a lot more in my spiritual journey, I can say that while this book claims you can “manifest what you want”, manifesting is NOT about attracting what you want. Manifesting is an awareness & an understanding that you attract what you ARE- it’s different. So keep this in mind if you choose to read this book.
2.The Universe Has Your Back Gabby Bernstein
If most of you are familiar with my pregnancy story, then you know that becoming a mama was something I wasn’t sure I was ever meant to do. Clearly, I was VERY wrong.. as you all know it’s my greatest joy. But, until the moment they placed Carter on my chest.. I still wasn’t sure. I was struggling with all the changes my mind, body & world were going through. I questioned my spirituality, my purpose & was in a negative space. I even tried re-reading The Secret during this time but couldn’t make the shift away from the negative thoughts, that I SO desperately needed. Then, I came across this book half way through my pregnancy & it shifted my entire perspective. This book helped me turn all the feelings I had from fear to feelings of love. Basically it’s about how if you surrender & go with the flow.. It will ALL work out.. which it did. I LOVE being a mom & I can’t believe I am saying this but I can’t wait to be pregnant again. To this day, anytime I feel off I re-read certain parts. It helps me feel connected to a higher power & reminds me that the Universe most certainly has my back.
3.Signs The Secret Language Of The Universe By Laura Lynne Jackson
This has to be one of my favourite books on the entire planet. It is heartwarming, beautifully written & has changed the way I look at passing on. It solidified my connection to the other side & since I read it, I have seen SO much magic through my own eyes. It came into my hands three weeks before I gave birth & I believe my grandmother was guiding me during labour because of this book. She was always there, but the book allowed me to feel her & connect to her energy in a way that I never thought was possible. I mention this all in our birth story podcast. Since that day, I have had many incredible experiences & have connected with many others who believe they get signs as well from loved ones who have passed. In Chapter 18 of this book, the author refers to someone called a “connector”, people who aren’t mediums but have helped friends/family connect to the other side through their own spiritual journeys. I know 100 % that part of my purpose is to be a connector & I thank each of you who have shared stories of connectivity because of what I have shared on this topic. It’s the greatest feeling.
4. The 5 am Club By Robin Sharma
Incredible fictional story about a billionaire mogul who teaches two strangers about his revolutionary morning routine. It’s an enchanting, magical book with practical step by step methods that have completely evolved my morning routine. Doesn’t sound spiritual, but there’s magic to the practices and methods taught. It also has a lot of similar themes that the other books have, but worded in a very different way. It explains why waking up early will elevate your mind, body/ soul & It honestly was such a game changer for me as a new mama running a business. I apply the tactics I learnt in this book every single day. It’s not just about waking up early, you don’t need to wake up at 5 am to be able to apply these practices. It’s about elevating & rising to victory by doing certain things first thing in the morning. This book is a game changer for entrepreneurs. I LOVE it & It has honestly changed my life.
I plan to read a few more in the coming weeks & I am currently reading The Four Agreements By Don Miguel Ruiz.
I will continue to update you on books that I think you guys would love as I continue on this journey! Let me know if you have any recommendations for me as well.
